A tradition continues as Norfield Church hosts its 113th annual fair on Saturday, May 24th. The Fair will be on the grounds of the Church from 10:00AM until 4:00PM.

The Norfield Fair began in 1899 as a strawberry festival organized by the Norfield Ladies Aid Society to build community spirit. A program from the Sept. 1st 1951, annual fair said the main objectives were to create an opportunity “both to have a good time and to do something worthwhile.”

The church fair continues today as a way to bring the community together and to raise money for the local charitable organizations throughout Fairfield County. Since 1990, Norfield has donated more than $1 million to charities from fair proceeds. Beneficiaries have included the Weston Food Pantry, the Bridgeport Rescue Mission and the Carver Center.

This year’s theme is “Reaching out to neighbors near and far.’ The proceeds will benefit both iiConn and Clasp as well as the wider UCC.

Fairgoers will find the traditional Norfield Fair “institutions”, including:

Grandma’s Attic tag sale: Donated items for sale under the big tent run the gamut from planters to crockpots, sports equipment to glassware, as well as toys, small electronics, household items and furniture.

Book and Entertainment Booth: Check out hundreds of used books, board games, movies, albums and cassettes, and educational software.

Walton’s Corner: This is where fair goers will find collectibles like jewelry, china, silver and pewter, porcelain figurines, vintage linens, kitchen utensils, and ceramics.

Country Kitchen: breakfast items including bagels, muffins, donuts and coffee.
