Westport, CT—A tasty cupcake, a few delicious cookies, a chocolate loaf cake, just a few of the delectable goodies most of us enjoy from time to time with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee—a sweet treat after a good meal.
But for too American children there are no such treats—because there is no meal to follow. Tonight 1 in 5 will go to bed hungry. That’s more than 16 million kids or enough to fill 845 basketball arenas.
On May 18th, a group of local residents, cooks and authors are gathering to bring our community into the fight against childhood hunger by hosting a Bake Sale to benefit No Kid Hungry/Share Our Strength.
Of special note: The bake sale will feature contributions by the kid-chefs of My City Kitchen, a Meriden-based nonprofit that teaches cooking skills to at-risk kids for the purposes of nutrition…
