Everyone should sign up for Code Red Alerts
10/26/2012 7:11:50 PM EST – 10/26/12 CODE RED NOTIFICATION
This is First Selectman Gayle Weinstein with a Code Red message regarding Hurricane Sandy.
According to the current weather models, the effects of Hurricane Sandy will begin Sunday evening with heavy rain. We are anticipating hurricane force winds to begin on Monday possibly in the afternoon or evening. As with all weather forecasts, this may change at any time.
As the impending landfall of Hurricane Sandy approaches, please take precautions to protect your family and property.
1. Heavy rain, coupled with high tides and a full moon increase the chance of flooding. Please prepare your homes accordingly.
2. If you do not plan on evacuating, shelter yourselves indoors, stay away from windows and establish a room on the lowest level of your home as a safe area
3. Plan on being without power for several days. Store enough food and supplies for a 72 hour period
4. This information is available on the Town of Weston website at http://www.westonct.gov. Please check the websites for updates regarding the storm.
We will send out additional Code Red messages as we receive additional information regarding the path of the storm.
