Norfield Children’s Center Harvest Festival – Oct 13

Norfield Children’s Center Harvest Festival

Weston will be treated to an old-fashioned fall treat on Saturday, October 13th.  Norfield Children’s Center is hosting a Harvest Festival to celebrate the season, and will feature fun for the whole family.  The event will be held at the Weston Historical Society’s Coley House on Weston Road.  There will be a lot of action available for a small entrance fee.  INCLUDING A BOUNCE HOUSE. One of the great ways everyone in the community can participate is carving or decorating a Jack-O-Lantern.  You know you will want at least one of those orange harbingers of fall on your doorstep, so get those pumpkins and start designing!  Prepare your entries, or let your children have a go at it.  There will be a contest of creativity with prizes awarded in two categories; Kids and Family, which lets adults join the fun, too!  The judging of the Pumpkin Parade will happen at 4 pm, so have your completed entries through the entrance gate by then.
Games will include a Quarterback challenge, with a target placed at one end of the field, and a toss line that moves continuously farther back… how strong and accurate is your spiral?  Candy Cornhole Toss, a Scarecrow building race, Seed Spitting contest, and a timed challenge to find a (larger than average) Needle in a Haystack are a few of the other selections that will be on hand.
An Arts and Crafts tent will also be available.  A Fall Collage, featuring a variety of natural and autumnal art materials, will let all artists flex their creative muscles, and the results will later be displayed at the Weston Public Library.  Attendees can choose to make a cute Pumpkin Print Magnet to take home, and Face Painting will be available for those who prefer to be the canvas!
There will also be a Baked Goods Sale, Wine Tasting sponsored by Georgetown Package Store, and folks can buy guesses as to how many Candy Corns are in a jar, closest guess wins.  Some local craftspeople will have wares on display and there will be photo opportunities galore.  A few Halloween classics will be playing in the movie tent as a special treat, and there will be a few surprises to look forward to.  If you have any questions, please call Mary Nosenzo at (203)227-7047.
