All Are Welcome!
We warmly invite you to gather for our first ever community sing.
Led by New York based choral director, Noe Venable, our gathering will bring all together in music
making in honor of the many traditions that light up the winter. You do not need to be able to read music, nor do you need to be a confident singer (though those gifts are welcome!) Songs are
taught by ear with sheet music available for those who desire it.
Our repertoire draws upon folk music traditions from around the world, including South African
freedom songs, shaker songs, advent songs, Hebrew songs, Russian songs, and European folk songs.
Participants will take home a packet of songs to warm them through the winter and beyond.
Noe Venable comes to us from Brooklyn, New York, where she is the music director at the Brooklyn Waldorf School. There, she directs two choruses, one for grown-ups and one for children. She also directs the school’s instrumental music program and teaches music to grades 1 – 6. A patient, exuberant teacher, Noe’s interest lies in how singing enriches the social fabric of communities. In support of her work as a teacher, Noe holds a masters degree in education from Harvard Divinity School. This summer, she will complete her Waldorf Teacher training certificate from Antioch University in New England.
Space is Limited; Must RSVP:
If you are planning to attend, please RSVP to Kim Carr at email@example.com by Friday, December 9th. She will send you directions and parking instructions by email or hard copy if you prefer.
