10/31/2011 10:19:01 AM EST – This is a Code Red update for the Town of Weston on Monday, October 31 at 10 am.
68% of Weston customers are currently without power. CL&P still has not given us restoration estimates, but they have begun the restoration process. We will post that information as soon as we get it. All Weston roads are currently passable. Caution is advised due to continued major road obstructions. We have opened a 24-hour emergency shelter and comfort station at the rear entrance of the Weston Middle School. Please bring your own bedding, towels and toiletries. Town Hall will be open today until 5 pm and the Senior Center will be open from 9-2 for internet access. The high school library will be open today and movies will be shown throughout the day in the auditorium. We are anticipating power to be restored to the library ASAP, and the library will remain open until 5. Weston’s AT&T storm line is currently out of service, so please call 203-222-2591 for updated recorded information. Our website, http://www.westonct.gov and facebook page will be updated throughout the day.
Following discussions with the Police Department, and in order to provide a safe environment for Trick or Treating, we are postponing Halloween activities until Saturday, November 5th. Many of our streets may still be without power and with downed lines, making conditions unsafe. The Historical Society’s Scare Fair will take place on Saturday from 12-4, and the Ragamuffin parade will begin at 5:30 at the Hurlbutt South House field.
This has been a Code Red message from the Town of Weston.
