Flu season is upon us and it’s time to get the annual flu shot. The CDC offers comprehensive information about the flu and flu shots. Check with your doctor’s/pediatrician’s offices for flu shot clinics. You have probably seen the signs outside of pharmacies and grocery stores offering flu shots, too. The Westport Weston Health District is offering flu shots (and Flu Mist – the nasal spray) at $35 for either vaccine (children included). Please check the website for updated dates and locations. You may schedule an appointment online for any member of your family/group (as long as the person is 2 and older). Fill out the permission form prior to your appointment to facilitate the efficiency of your appointment.
The clinics listed below are open to anyone 2 years of age or older wishing to be vaccinated and appointments are available on-line. Walk-in appointments are available. Both injectable flu and nasal flu vaccine will be available and the cost of either vaccine is $35 cash.
We will accept Medicare Part B and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance.
Participants must bring their insurance cards to the clinic for billing purposes.
The Health District will provide Fluarix vaccine manufactured by Glaxo Smith-Kline and Fluzone vaccine manufactured by Sanofi. This year’s vaccine contains the A/California (H1N1)-like, A/Perth (H3N2)-like, and B/Brisbane (2008-like antigens) strains, which are thought to most likely occur in the United States this winter.
Giving your child the flu shot will help protect your child and others from getting the flu. Prevention is key.
