Weston Library Events for September (Friends of the Library)

We have added some more exciting programs at the Weston Public Library in September, as well as one at the very beginning of October.  All are free and take place in the Community Room.
FILM SERIES – Sunday Sept. 25   1PM – 3PM
This is the new date and time for the documentary screening with filmmaker Lisa Seidenberg “I Have Seen the Future: The New York World’s Fair of 1939”

Gliding as smoothly as a gleaming new Edsel from nostalgia to conspiracy theory, I Have Seen The Future shows how the New York World’s Fair of 1939 led America and the world down a road of mass consumerism and a future dependent on the motorcar and the fuel to keep it going. The most spectacular project of Robert Moses, builder of roads and bridges, the World’s Fair was a breathtaking vision of the future—a vision that 70 years later, literally and figuratively ran out of fuel!

The most popular exhibit was General Motors “Futurama”, where visitors sat on moving chairs and observed a future America below their feet. Upon exiting, visitors received a button with the words: “I Have Seen The Future”. Lisa Seidenberg will be available to answer questions after the showing.

Tuesday, Sept. 27th at 7 PM
