The Song of Mulan (Ridgefield) – Feb 26

Mulan may be part of the Disney Princess List, but her tale has been told since 420 A.D.. I even remember my parents translating the Chinese ballad to me when I was a little girl. Perhaps your little ones have seen the movie, read the books, and dressed up as Mulan for Halloween; now they can see it performed live. As part of their family series, the Ridgefield Playhouse presents “The Song of Mulan” (a musical for all ages) on Saturday, February 26th. There will be two shows, at 11 am and 2 pm. Tickets are on sale now; all seats are $15 (if you want seats closer to the stage, reserve early). It’s a good-sized theater in that any seat is decent in the theater (except for several that may be obstructed as per the seating chart). There are various service fees involved with credit card charges and what-not, but each ticket ends up being $20 or less. Even if you buy them in person, a credit card fee and processing fee are charged. If you order online there is a $4 convenience charge per ticket and then an overall $2 fee added to the total for processing. All this information is on the Ridgefield Playhouse web site. It’s still an economical way to give my children the experience of watching a show in a theater setting without traveling out of Fairfield County.

We have seen a few shows at the Ridgefield Playhouse and have enjoyed them. Of note, when we went to see “The Little Mermaid,” we were expecting the same songs and similar plot details as the Disney version, but were pleasantly surprised by the catchy and fun songs performed instead. We hope you’ll enjoy Mulan!

By the way, they have other shows (for families and for adults), too. For instance, the B-52’s in January is almost sold out!
